With the huge popularity of CBD oils growing due to the great results it has had on pets, certain questions have arisen about its origins as it is a derivative of the Cannabis plant.
We have, in previous articles tried to answer as many questions about CBD oil as we can, and one of these is “Are all CBD oils made the same?”
The good the bad and the ugly
The answer is a resounding “No,” as unfortunately with most products there are always those who try to take advantage of a growing market and exploit uninformed buyers.
Quality is a big factor with CBD oils and as far as quality goes you can find the good the bad and the downright ugly too, so proceed with some caution. This is a big subject and fairly complex one, but to give you just some basic guidelines here are few things to watch out for:
- A good manufacturer should be able to give you a good analysis and provide a certificate that tells you the amount of CBD that is in the product. Many CBD oils contain only small amounts of CBD.
- THC is the psychoactive derivative from Cannabis and is the element that gets you high. This is really not good for dogs and a good CBD oil will contain no or extremely little THC.
- Never go on price alone and look for cheap options. The really good oils will always be a little more expensive than some of the cheap products available. The higher the quality and purity, the higher the cost.
- Ensure that the product has used clean extraction methods like CO2 or professional ethanol extraction. The carrier oil should also be pure, like Hemp or MCT.
